In 1930, on May 25 in Minsk was created by the State Institute of physiatry, orthopedics and neurology (GIFON), based on which in 1944 organized by the Minsk Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics. In 1999 the Institute was renamed in State Belarusian Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics (BelNIITO) and 4 October 2007 - GU Republican Scientific-Practical Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics.
The structure of the Centre has 8 research units and 8 clinical departments, which deployed 340 trauma and orthopedic beds and 12 beds in the department of anesthesiology and intensive care. Admission of patients from all over the republic is carried out in a consultative and diagnostic department.
On the basis of the RSPC has two national center: National Center for treatment of patients with damage to the spine and spinal cord and the Republican Centre for sports injuries and joint pathology. The Centre has all the necessary therapeutic, diagnostic and support units providing examination, treatment of patients in outpatient and inpatient settings, carrying out research work. at the highest level.
