Brazilian Society of Hip BSH SBQ
It all started with the good Bahian Gustavo Teixeira, always restless and enterprising, who thought that, like other existing societies such as the Foot and Hand, the Hip should also try to group physicians to study, develop and disseminate the knowledge of this articulation.
Thus, Teixeira, with honorary president Márcio Ibraim de Carvalho, one of the most outstanding figures of the Brazilian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, organized and presided over the first Brazilian Hip Congress, held in the city of Salvador in 1981 at the Hotel Meridien.
With the participation of Dr. Eduardo Salvati of the Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, as a special guest, the event was a success, counting with the expressive participation of approximately 200 orthopedists.
Later, in 1982, at the Brazilian Congress of Orthopedics and Traumatology, also in Salvador, Bahia, in a meeting that had been previously scheduled in the official program of the Congress, the same group of doctors involved with the first major hip event, Was entrusted with the task of organizing the Second Brazilian Hip Congress in São Paulo in 1984 and also of establishing the new Hip Society status that would be created.
