Empirical began as Empirical Testing Corp. in Cleveland in 1998 as a single company with one employee testing medical devices.

Dawn Lissy had worked developing new medical devices.

She realized there were few options for independent mechanical testing, a crucial step in gaining regulatory approval.

She started Empirical Testing Corp. that year. In 1999, Lissy brought on her husband Chris.

In 2004, the Lissys relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado. At the time, 10,000 square feet and four employees handled the workload at Empirical.

Today, that space has almost tripled, and more than 20 people now work for the three Empirical companies:

Empirical Testing Corp.,

Empirical Consulting, LLC and

Empirical Machine, LLC
