Irish Society of Orthopaedic Medicine ISOM


The Irish Society of Orthopaedic Medicine [ISOM] was formed in 1978 to develop the work of Dr. James Cyriax and to promote the theory and practice of orthopaedic medicine. ISOM was the Irish-based organization for all Irish Doctors and Chartered Physiotherapists working in the field of Orthopaedic has been replaced by the Irish Society of Orthopaedic and Rheumatological Medicine [ISORM] There are 3 levels of membership: Associate Membership which consists of therapists who support the work of the ISORM by subscription,and who are involved in ISORM policy,course organization,general administration--priority in Course booking,and Course discount applies to Associate Membership: Membership of ISORM --This consists of Doctors and Chartered Physiotherapists,who, having completed the basic instructional Modules in Orthopaedic and Rheumatological Medicine,submitted case reports,and passed an examination,are deemed to have special competence in the practice of Orthopaedic and Rheumatological Medicine;this competence is subject to regular review ,as per usual protocols of Continuous Professional Development: Fellowship of ISORM--This consists of Chartered Physiotherapists ,and Doctors,who, having achieved Membership,undergo a clerkship in teaching the Orthopaedic and Rheumatological Medicine Curriculum,and pass a special examination to qualify as Teachers ,or Fellows, in Orthopaedic and Rheumatological Medicine.
