Israeli Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine ISMM
The Israeli Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine is the foremost provider of instruction and support to Primary Care health professionals in Israel, in the identification and treatment of musculoskeletal and myofascial pain syndromes.
It is a not-for-profit scientific organization operating under the auspices of the Israel Medical Association.
While probably the most common cause of pain and disability in the population, muscle and soft tissue pain have been overlooked, particularly by the medical establishment, in the education of care providers.
While creating a tremendous economic and social burden because of disability and reduced function, these causes of pain are not killers and are neither identified nor treated in the hospital setting.
The Society was created in 2002 in order to represent the health professionals who are interested in the scientific basis of the management of myofascial pain, and to be a platform for education of academically-accredited practitioners.
Based on sound anatomical, physiological and neurological research conducted over the past century, the Society's courses are practice-based sessions to provide hands-on training in several techniques of therapy.
The theoretical underpinnings of our approaches are provided in an online lecture series which is available to all.
The Society also actively promotes the managementof musculoskeletal disorders with yearly conferences, is actively engaged in cooperation with other medical organizations such as the Israel Pain association and the Isrel Association for Family Medicine.
