It was 1891 when a group of surgeons passionate about osteoarticular pathology and traumatology and congenital musculoskeletal deformities proposed the establishment of the Italian Orthopedic Society (Archives of Orthopedics vol. IX, page 60) and drafted a statute which was unanimously approved. in 1892; to the President of A. Gamba of Turin. He was succeeded, between 1893 and 1913, by illustrious names of Italian Surgery: T. Panzeri, R. Galeazzi, A. Codivilla, V. Oliva, R. Alessandri and others.
