Russian Association on Osteoporosis RAO
The Russian Association for Osteoporosis was established in 1995 and has about 200 members. It has 45 branches all over Russia. Under the aegis of RAAP, there are 52 centers of osteoporosis.
Russian congresses on osteoporosis are held every three years, winter and summer schools on osteoporosis for doctors annually. From November 18 to November 20, 2013, V Russian congress on osteoporosis and other metabolic diseases of the skeleton was held in Moscow.
RAOU has published national clinical recommendations on osteoporosis since 2005. Since 2001, the Society of Patients Osterus has been working at RAEP . For patients, the newspaper Caution, Osteoporosis is published . RAOU is a co-founder of the journal Osteoporosis and Osteopathy , included in the list of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation.
Today, the Association for Osteoporosis of all CIS countries works together with RAOU. RAO initiated the implementation of FRAX, which determines the absolute risk of fracture in men and women over 40 years in the next 10 years.
